Stephen Curry, superstar of the Golden State Warriors and two-time most valuable player (MVP) of his league in the National Basketball Association (NBA) has a garage that reflects his lifelong successes. With crazy success which include breaking the record for most three pointers made in NBA history, Curry has certainly earned his money.
A net worth estimated at over $160 million has allowed him to accumulate quite a few vehicles, and he has taken advantage of having money to begin to curate his collection. Largely drawn to impressive Sport’s Utility Vehicles (SUVs) and European sports cars, the price ranges for his vehicles range from a low of around $30,000 to nearly $200,000.
Of all the impressive rides in Curry’s collection, though, the most insane car has to be his 2017 Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Although not the most expensive, this car is sleek and a clear favorite of the basketball star (he actually owns multiple Porsches). Curry chooses this car often and has been photographed in it several times by zealous fans and reporters.
Let’s look closer at why the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is the most insane car in Stephen Curry’s collection!
Stephen Curry’s Porsche 911 GT3 RS
While some other professional basketball players are working with endorsements that have them driving more standard rides, for example LeBron James, who works with KIA and is often seen driving a KIA K900 that retails for just over $60,000, Stephen Curry is making no concessions with his choice ride.
Curry’s apparent recent favorite is a 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS that retails for over $175,000. He definitely is not being shy about showing off the car either, as he is often seen in the bright red, attention-drawing sports car. One of his earlier treks out in the ride even went viral after a fan noticed him putting in gas in Oakland and filmed the interaction and posted it on Twitter.
The Porsche 911 GT3 RS that Curry owns boasts a 4.0 liter flat-six engine that is capable of up to five hundred brake horsepower. With a lightweight and aerodynamic body and reduced weight accessories such as floor mats, door handles, and carbon fiber seats, the car is incredibly fast and can reach a top speed of 197 MPH. Stephen Curry has said in the past that he favors this particular car because he feels that it is “the very notion of speed.”
With Porsche and Manthey-Racing celebrating their 25th year as partners in Motorsports, it is a good bet that Curry might be looking to upgrade to an even more exclusive version. With only thirty of the special-edition 2021 Porsche 911 GT2 RS models being produced (and just six being imported to the US), it’s possible we’ll see Curry in this version soon.
What Else Is In Stephen Curry’s Garage?
With Stephen Curry’s undeniable affinity for cars with a sporty look and a lot of speed, it comes as no surprise that he also has another Porsche in his garage. The superstar also has a Porsche Panamera Turbo S worth around $150,000. The four-door version is a bit less sporty, but is still more than capable, with five hundred horsepower under the hood and a capability of reaching speeds up to 190 MPH.
Another favorite of his seems to be upscale SUVs. You can find a high-end Cadillac Escalade ESV with a retail over $76,000 alongside his sports cars as well. The SUV was one of his purported earlier purchases, and he has not been seen cruising in it in a while, so there are rumors this no longer graces his collection. However, it speaks to his tastes for expensive SUVs that it was one of his first additions.
A more recently seen SUV from Curry’s collection is the Mercedes-Benz G55. This SUV is a favorite of off-road enthusiasts who are looking for something that can do equally well on pavement. It retails for over $123,000 and Curry took that a step further with the addition of chrome accents and custom wheels for the ride. The most expensive SUV to have been included in Curry’s collection is a Range Rover Sport LWB that retails for over $208,000. Although that is the factory-cost, we know that Curry also customized this ride with some modifications and, of course, more custom wheels (this time 22-inch).
In addition to his speedy sportsters and classy SUVs, Curry also has had a few other cars in his collection. Although not quite as expensive or signature as his other rides, they are still worth noting. He has a Tesla Model X 90D, which is no surprise considering Tesla’s headquarters are just thirty miles from the Warrior’s home arena. He also owned a Kia Sorento, which was a prize won for his MVP season, which he immediately donated to the East Oakland Youth Development Center (also located near the Warrior’s arena).
Finally, as an international spokesperson for Infiniti, he is (of course) obligated to own at least one. Curry’s choice is the Infiniti Q50, which he reportedly used to showcase his incredible skill with a basketball as he dropped a long-range shot into the sunroof of the ride as part of an advertising campaign for the company.
Overall, it seems most vehicles in Stephen Curry’s collection that were personally curated by the basketball superstar are high-end SUVs or particularly fast sports cars. Those that are not either are a show of support for local companies, prizes, or part of his advertising prowess. However, undeniably, the most insane car in his garage is his Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
