Stephen Curry says that Cameron Brink is a women’s basketball ‘ICON’ that he closely watches

Stephen Curry paid tribute to Stanford women’s basketball coach Tara VanDerveer after she won her 1,200th game this past weekend. Curry has been concentrating more on the Cardinal in recent years.

Stephen Curry, a standout player for the Golden State Warriors, keeps a careful eye on the Stanford women’s basketball team. Cameron Brink, Curry’s mother’s goddaughter, is an excellent post-player.

This past weekend, Curry made sure to commend legendary Stanford head coach Tara VanDerveer as she was close to a big goal.

On Sunday, VanDerveer’s squad defeated Washington 71-59, giving her 1,200th career coaching victory. She is now only two wins behind former Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski in the NCAA record.

Curry called Stanford’s games this season “absolutely amazing,” having watched them. She is a symbol and well-known. this program’s effects on basketball in general. It’s great to have a family member witness it up close, something I didn’t get to do before with Cam [Brink].

“After getting to know her and watching a few of her games, it’s clear that VanDerveer is just a hoops fan.” Cam made a comment about how hard she works and how many movies she watches despite her enormous popularity. An amazing sea change. I’m hoping she smashes the record shortly and gets flowers to celebrate.

Stanford is ranked eighth in a recent top-25 survey that was made public on Monday. They have a 14-1 record this season. In terms of points scored (18.5 ppg) and rebounds (11.3 per game), Brink tops the team. She is expected to be chosen in the first round of the WNBA Draft. The 6-foot-4 inside player has a lot of experience with the development groups of Team USA.

The production crew of the Cardinal also depends on the new co-star, Kiki Iriafen. Iriafen has scored ten more points each game on average since last year. The team now possesses a second strong paint threat that can overwhelm opponents in Brink, their best inside defender.

VanDerveer has won three NCAA Tournament championships, and she has a chance to do it again with this year’s outstanding team. Numerous more teams, including South Carolina, UCLA, and Baylor, who have all won their games thus far, are contenders in the college basketball tournament. But Stanford will be confident going into the NCAA Tournament thanks to VanDerveer’s experience, and it will probably receive a top-three seed.

Before the season, VanDerveer said to CBS Sports, “I think we are in a great spot.” “I’m so happy we have our team when the ball gets tossed up. There are some really excellent players in other clubs. At LSU, I know several really nice guys. There are excellent players in Connecticut. Great players come from Iowa. But we also have excellent players.

The Pac-12 schedule is demanding, so the Cardinals will be prepared for March Madness. They have to go see Alissa Pili, ranked as the “best player in the country” by South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley, and No. 19 Utah on Friday. On Sunday, Brink and his team will travel to Colorado to play the No. 5 team.
