The potential trade target for the Warriors arrived in the South Bay on Thursday afternoon. He dined at Nobu Palo Alto before heading to Frost Amphitheater on Stanford’s campus for the last night of Fred Again’s three-night event.
Butler took to his Instagram Story to share his day’s activities, including a visit to the Stanford shopping center. He also posted about dining at the only Bay Area restaurant of the world-famous sushi chain Nobu, showcasing a bottle from the establishment and sharing pictures of the dishes he savored.
When approached for comment about Butler’s visit, Nobu opted not to provide any information, citing their restaurant policy.
After dining, Butler headed to Stanford’s campus for the concert, capturing a humorous moment on his Instagram Story. While driving along the university’s iconic Palm Drive, Butler mistakenly cheered, “Go Ferns,” which drew laughter from his companions who corrected him with “Go Trees.”
Butler humorously repeated the correct phrase before adding a shoutout to Stanford basketball player Cameron Brink.
Butler proceeded to share numerous photos and videos from the Frost Amphitheater, documenting Fred Again’s performance on the musician’s last night at Stanford.
Butler’s recent visit to the Bay Area has sparked speculation about the possibility of him joining the region as his new home. The Athletic’s Anthony Slater hinted last week that the Warriors could show interest if the Heat explore trading Butler.

Currently, Butler is under contract with the Miami Heat and is set to earn $48.8 million next season with a player option of $52.4 million for the 2025-26 season.
Earlier in the offseason, The Miami Herald reported that Butler sought a contract extension totaling three years and $161.7 million.
The Warriors on the other hand are facing significant financial constraints, according to Spotrac. They are currently over the cap by more than $108 million. This figure includes substantial cap hits such as Stephen Curry’s over $55 million as well as the combined over $50 million for Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green.
Acquiring Butler might pose difficulties for Golden State since their promising young talents like Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski may not fulfill Miami’s current roster requirements.
