Adrian had the opportunity to bid farewell to Mohamed Salah and Kostas Tsimikas when Liverpool played Real Betis in their opening preseason friendly.
Adrian was not bid farewell at Anfield like Thiago and Joel Matip were when the season concluded and his future remained undetermined.
Instead, the goalkeeper’s free transfer to Betis meant a discreet departure while his teammates were away because Liverpool had extended a contract offer to him.
However, Adrian had the chance to bid farewell to those he became close to before the two teams play on Friday night in Pittsburgh.
Among his closest pals in the team were Salah and Tsimikas, who on Thursday greeted their former teammate at their hotel.
“First and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude to Liverpool for providing me with the chance to stay at the club. However, I had to take advantage of the opportunity to return home.”
“The train runs, so here I am, but it only passes once, so I have to catch it,” the saying goes.
“Obviously, since I had such a wonderful five seasons there, I tried to express myself to the Liverpool fans as well.”
Adrian, who was with Betis for 15 years prior to moving to England in 2013, inked a two-year contract.
